An Australian with links to the HellsAngels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang is now facing the death penalty in Thailand, accused of being involved in an international drug trafficking ring.
The man was arrested after police seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs during a dramatic raid on the man’s home.
Detectives allege around $90,000 worth of ice was found, including one kilogram discovered in a backpack, before the raid uncovered even more hidden in a fridge and a candle at the man’s Thai residence.
A Nigerian national was also arrested after trying to escape off a balcony, with officers alleging he has links to the West African Mafia operating out of Bangkok.
They believe he was pretending to be a taxi driver and supplying the drugs in bulk for the Australian to on-sell.
Thai Police kept the Rockingham man under surveillance after receiving a tip off, putting a GPS tracker on his car before arresting him.
It’s believed the drugs were destined to be sold locally in Thailand and smuggled to other countries including Australia.
The accused Rockingham man is tonight in a Thai jail cell.
If convicted, he could spend the next 25 years there and could be sentenced to death.
