Accused ordered held in Bangkok murder-dismemberment

Thanakrit Prakob, who has reportedly confessed to killing and dismembering his former girlfriend in Bangkok, appeared in Min Buri Provincial Court on Tuesday for a detention hearing and was ordered held without chance of bail for a further 12 days.

Thanakrit, 36, faces one charge of murdering Lakkhana Kamlangkeng, 24, at his apartment on June 12 when she went there to retrieve her possessions after their relationship ended.

He faces a second charge of destroying a body to conceal a crime.

Police said he confessed to dismembering the body the next day and discarding the parts in roadside undergrowth in Klong Sam Wa district.

The body was found on June 22 and Thanakrit was arrested on Saturday night.

Police asked the court to deny bail during the detention period through July 7 pending interviews with six witnesses and the outcome of forensic tests on evidence.
