At a hotel on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok’s Klongtoey neighborhood, Immigration Bureau officers reported the arrest of a 43-year-old Syrian male named Adnan and a 35-year-old Egyptian woman named Sabir. The two’s overstaying of their visas led to their arrest.
Sabir’s visa expired 1,526 days ago, and Adnan’s expired 2,451 days ago, according to the Immigration Department.
Subsequent inquiries disclosed that Adnan was detained by the Special Investigation Bureau in 2017 on charges of engaging in human trafficking and Moroccan women prostitution. Arrest warrants for robbery, violence, and other offenses in the Nana and Sukhumvit districts have also been issued for him.In certain of these instances, a verdict has not yet been rendered.
Early examinations showed that Adnan had not requested to have his visa status changed in order to refute the accusations made against him. Consequently, the Immigration Police accused him and Sabir of being undocumented immigrants who had disregarded the terms of their visas. After that, they were brought to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Immigration Department to face legal proceedings.
Evidence of communication between Adnan, Sabir, and another Thai woman was also discovered by the detaining officers. They think the three are related, and the police will look into it more to find out how they are related and whether they have committed any other crimes.
