Zhang Wenhao, the husband of the owner of the “Phoenix”, has revealed to Chinese media that his wife manages TC Blue Company, and that he is one of the employees.
All employees of TC Blue Company, the registered operator of the sunken boat, are Chinese, except for captains and boat crews, he said.
The “Phoenix” is owned by 26-year-old Woraluck Rueakchaiyakan, whose Chinese husband Zhang has not been seen since the accident occurred off Phuket last week.
Woraluck has already met with police and officials.
The “Phoenix” was constructed in 2016 and has been used as a tour boat since September last year. Zhang says that he is a dive instructor.
He also says that they chose to employ the captain who was in charge of the vessel last Thursday evening, as he had about 20 years’ experience working on boats.
Most of the customers on the “Phoenix” were Chinese tourists.
TC Blue Company has been found to have the required majority of Thai shareholders in its company structure.
