Thai Police Seize Over 300,000 Meth Pills in Major Drug Bust
Authorities in Thailand have arrested four suspects in a large-scale drug operation in Pak Kret, seizing a massive stash of narcotics along with a firearm. The operation, led by Police Colonel Sithisak Nakamat, took place on March 1 at 8:15 PM under directives from Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom.
Large Stash of Drugs and Firearm Seized
During the raid, officers confiscated:
- 301,150 methamphetamine pills
- Nearly 1 kg of crystal methamphetamine (Ice)
- 700 grams of ketamine
- A .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with six bullets
- Additional ammunition
- A grey Isuzu D-Max pickup truck
- Five mobile phones
Investigation and Arrests
Police identified the arrested suspects as:
- Surasak (47) – believed to be a key figure in the drug network
- Krisana (28)
- Kongkiat (28)
- Chalit (32)
Investigators had been monitoring Surasak, who was suspected of running a drug distribution ring in Nonthaburi and surrounding areas. The drugs were being stored at a residence on Arisara 4 Road in Khlong Khoi subdistrict, Pak Kret district.
On March 1, police surveillance teams spotted a pickup truck leaving the property. Upon intercepting the vehicle, they found Surasak in possession of a large quantity of drugs. He admitted his intent to sell the narcotics and disclosed that more drugs were hidden in a shed on the property.
Upon searching the residence, officers found Krisana, Kongkiat, and Chalit, along with additional narcotics. All three suspects confessed to their involvement in the operation.
Legal Charges and Next Steps
- Surasak faces multiple charges, including possession of category 1 narcotics with intent to distribute and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
- Krisana, Kongkiat, and Chalit have been charged with conspiracy to distribute category 1 narcotics and category 2 substances (ketamine), offenses that pose a threat to public safety and state security.
All suspects and seized items have been handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further legal proceedings, according to reports from KhaoSod.
