Thai Woman Missing for Three Months Found Dead in Oman

BANGKOK, Thailand – The burned body of a 29-year-old Thai woman, missing in Oman for over three months, has been discovered on a hill in Salalah. Reports indicate that she was severely abused by her Bangladeshi boyfriend before her disappearance.

The victim, identified as Nong Mind, had traveled to Oman to visit her boyfriend. Friends revealed that she had previously informed them of the extreme physical abuse she endured, as well as being forced to take drugs. Concerned for her safety, her parents and friends traveled from Lampang to Bangkok, seeking assistance from the Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women to locate her.

Paveena had scheduled a meeting with Thai police’s Foreign Affairs Division at 4 p.m. on February 24, intending to request Interpol’s help in tracking her down. However, shocking developments unfolded earlier in the day.

A Facebook user, Khadeeja MadamOman Alhashmi, who had been assisting in the search, provided crucial evidence that led to the discovery of Nong Mind’s fate. After reviewing her Facebook activity and reaching out to contacts, she managed to track down Na, the last person to have seen Nong Mind on November 30. Na confirmed that she had been badly beaten before vanishing.

Further investigation led to Or, another acquaintance, who provided photos of Nong Mind’s boyfriend and his mobile number. MadamOman’s husband submitted this evidence to the Omani police in Salalah on Thursday, February 22.

The next day, Or contacted MadamOman again, revealing that the abuse had led to Nong Mind’s death. Her boyfriend then allegedly took her body up a hill, placed a sofa over it, and set it on fire.

By 5:21 p.m. on February 23, Omani authorities confirmed through MadamOman’s husband that the charred body found on the hill was indeed Nong Mind.

Thai authorities are now expected to work with Interpol and Omani police to seek justice for the victim and hold the perpetrator accountable.
