Fake Doctor Arrested at Samut Prakan Clinic for Illegal Medical Practice
Authorities in Samut Prakan arrested a fake doctor at Phrom Rak Medical Clinic in Phra Samut Chedi after discovering unqualified individuals administering medical treatments. The raid, conducted at 3 PM on February 21, followed reports from concerned locals.
The operation was led by Nuttanaporn Wongboonkeokul, a 32-year-old pharmacist and head of the consumer protection and pharmaceutical health group in Samut Prakan, alongside Police Lieutenant Colonel Prayoon Pattanuli and other officials. The team stormed a three-story commercial building in Nai Khlong Bang Pla Kot subdistrict, arresting 56-year-old Korakot, 52-year-old Anucha, and 54-year-old Kwanchit.
Authorities launched the investigation after receiving complaints that the individual providing medical treatment did not match the name listed in the consultation room. Undercover officers confirmed the suspicions, leading to the raid. At the time of the arrest, one female patient had just received an injection and medication from the unlicensed practitioner.
A patient who frequently visited the clinic expressed shock upon learning the truth, stating she had trusted the facility due to its proximity to her home.
Criminal Charges and Additional Offenses
- Korakot faces charges for practicing medicine without a license, selling modern medicine without permission, and document forgery.
- Kwanchit was implicated in an illegal money-lending operation, charging interest rates exceeding legal limits. Authorities seized loan agreements as evidence.
- Anucha, the clinic owner, was charged for failing to ensure the presence of licensed medical professionals during all operating hours, as required by ministry regulations.
The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken against those involved.
