British Man Causes Scene at Phuket Airport After Dropping Cocaine

A British tourist sparked chaos at Phuket International Airport on February 18 after allegedly dropping a bag of cocaine while having a frantic outburst.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jamie Louis Swain from Enfield, North London, had arrived from Shanghai on Juneyao Air flight HO 1323. Witnesses reported that he began shouting, rolling on the floor, and thrashing about, claiming he was going to die.

During the commotion, a bag containing 4.11 grams of cocaine allegedly fell from his pocket, leaving traces of white powder on the floor. Police Major Akkarapon Akkraphon, an immigration checkpoint inspector, confirmed that the substance was cocaine, classified as a Category 2 narcotic under Thai law.

Swain was immediately arrested and charged with illegal possession and importing narcotics into the country. He was handed over to the Sakhu Police Station for further legal proceedings and now faces the possibility of a life sentence.

Despite the severity of the charges, reports suggest that some foreign offenders may negotiate with local agencies to avoid lengthy prison terms.
