Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor appeared in a Dublin court on Wednesday, denying allegations of sexual assault made by plaintiff Nikita Hand, asserting that the civil case against him and another man is “full of lies.”
Hand alleges that McGregor sexually assaulted her on December 9, 2018, a claim he refuted while testifying for the first time on the sixth day of the trial. He stated that he engaged in “fully consensual sex” with Hand and did not coerce anyone against their will.
“Your client is full of lies. Everything is a lie,” McGregor responded after Hand’s lawyer questioned him about her claim that he placed her in an arm lock. He also denied causing any bruising to her.
McGregor’s defense faced accusations from Hand’s lawyer, who claimed that McGregor pressed down on her watch so forcefully that a mark remained on her skin for days. Furthermore, last week, it was revealed that when Hand sought treatment at a sexual assault unit the day following the alleged incident, the attending doctor was so concerned about her injuries that he ordered photographs to be taken.
Hand testified that she and a friend contacted McGregor, whom she knew, after a work Christmas party. She claimed they were driven by him to a party in a penthouse suite at a south Dublin hotel, where drugs and alcohol were present.
According to Hand, McGregor took her into a bedroom in the penthouse and assaulted her, with her lawyer stating that she was on antidepressants and “full of drugs” during the encounter.
The presiding judge informed the jury, composed of eight women and four men, that the trial is anticipated to last two weeks.
