In Chonburi province, a Thai man violently attacked his wife with a spade out of jealousy, leaving her seriously injured. The incident took place around 10:00 PM on June 19, 2024, at a labor camp in Baan Thung Srakeaw, Khao Mai Kaew sub-district, Banglamung district. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene following a report of the assault.
Upon arrival, rescue workers found the victim, Mrs. A (alias), unconscious with a severe head wound. They administered first aid and quickly transported her to the hospital for urgent medical care. The assailant, identified as Mrs. A’s 64-year-old husband, Mr. Thongchai (family name withheld by police), was found intoxicated at the scene and was immediately apprehended by the police.
Eyewitnesses reported that Mrs. A and Mr. Thongchai had been drinking with friends and relatives at the labor camp after work. Mr. Thongchai allegedly became jealous during the gathering, leading to an argument with his wife. The argument escalated, and Mr. Thongchai grabbed a spade, striking his wife multiple times on the head with the handle.
The reason for Mr. Thongchai’s sudden jealousy remains unclear, and the police are currently investigating the matter.
