In a bizarre incident early Tuesday morning, a distressed Finnish man inflicted bloody cuts on himself using a knife before being subdued and transported to a hospital.
Pattaya police and rescue teams were summoned to an apartment complex on Soi Bua Khao in tambon Nong Prue of Bang Lamung district around 3:36 a.m. following reports of a foreigner causing a disturbance by violently harming himself inside his room. Residents in the building were alarmed by his behavior.
Upon arrival, the agitated individual, identified as 29-year-old Kontiainen Eeuoskari from Finland, remained in his room on the third floor, creating loud disturbances. Police, with the help of a security guard, gained entry to the room and managed to restrain him after a struggle.
Authorities found the room in disarray, with bloodstains on the floor and the man sustaining knife wounds on his face and right shoulder. He received first aid before being transferred to the hospital.
The reasons behind his erratic behavior remained unknown. The man appeared disoriented and provided conflicting statements. He is currently receiving medical care at Bang Lamung Hospital.
Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the incident, with the only notable damage being to property within the room.
