The man who claimed that marijuana smoking was to blame for his violent outburst at a Pattaya hotel, according to the police, was actually stoned on crystal methamphetamine.
Following his breakdown on May 3 at Chalee Place on Soi Buakhao, Antonio Damiano Malagrino, 43, was charged with drug possession after a positive crystal meth test.In a fit of paranoia, Malagrino tossed everything from the second-floor balcony of his hotel room, including the furnishings, refrigerator, TV, and more. After breaking into the room, civil-defense volunteers comforted Malagrino’s terrified girlfriend while transporting him to the Pattaya Police Station.
Numerous packets of marijuana were discovered in the room, supporting Malagrino’s assertion that he had been smoking marijuana all day. Malagrino claimed to have been paranoid after hearing voices and seeing eyes on him.
However, a urine test revealed that “ya ice” and not ganja was what ultimately drove him to take the plunge.
As cannabis has been decriminalized, it is obvious that admitting to smoking it won’t get you in trouble. Meth, a Class 1 narcotic, has significant criminal repercussions, thus testing positive carries them.
