Starlux Airlines is expanding its reach throughout Asia and to North America, and Australia may soon join those regions.
While its initial long-haul focus is on North America, the Taiwanese start-up, which bills itself as a “detail-oriented luxury airline,” is steadily expanding its fleet of Airbus A330neo and A350 jets. According to CEO Glenn Chai, it eventually plans to fly to Europe and Australia.
Next week, Starlux will begin operating A350 flights to Los Angeles; before the end of the year, San Francisco will follow. “New York is a must,” adds Chai.
Australia, which is closer to home, may be covered by either the A330neo or the A350.
Both provide a contemporary business class with free WiFi, while the A350’s business class includes sliding privacy doors, which our in-depth Starlux A350 business class review called “a suitably stellar offering.” First class and premium economy are located on each side of the business class.
Taiwanese rivals China Airlines and EVA Air, which are respectively members of SkyTeam and Star Alliance, already offer service to Australia’s east coast capitals. Starlux has already mentioned that it may join Oneworld in an effort to increase its global ambitions.
