On Khao San Road this afternoon (Friday), the Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha startled a lot of Songkran revelers by donning a vibrant shirt and brandishing a water pistol.

The United Thai Nation party’s leader and secretary-general, respectively, Pirapan Salirathavibhaga and Akanat Promphan, accompanied the prime minister as he welcomed several revelers and occasionally sprayed water at them.Prayut, who was covered in water, was all grins as he expressed his happiness to see so many visitors and noted that it was the outcome of the government’s efforts to encourage tourism.
Along with wishing them all well, he added he hoped the foreign visitors would return to Thailand.
As he proceeded down Khao San Road, a lot of partygoers approached the prime minister for photos and signatures.
The question “Why have you come here?” was however shouted by one group of young people.
