The second day of the Seven Days of Danger road safety campaign during Songkran saw a total of 339 road accidents, 36 fatalities, and 330 injuries recorded by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).
36 people died and 330 people were injured in 339 incidents on April 12. The majority (41%) were the result of excessive speeding. Motorcycles were involved in almost 83% of the collisions. Between 7:00 and 8:00 PM, the majority of traffic incidents happened on small-town roads.
Bangkok had the most fatalities, six, in any one province. There were 14 accidents overall, with Surat Thani having the most. Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani both had 14 injuries, which was the highest number. 618 traffic incidents occurred during the course of two days, resulting in 618 injuries and 63 fatalities.
