John Cleese to perform in Bangkok

Global comedy superstar John Cleese will be in town to take Bangkok audiences to explore the imperfect world we live in during his stand-up show Why There Is No Hope at Impact Exhibition Hall 5, Muang Thong Thani, on Jan 11.

Presented by Live Nation Tero, this will be a night of laughter and insight shared by the 82-year-old British actor, comedian, screenwriter and producer best known for Monty Python’s Flying Circus, a television work featuring a surrealistic mix of verbal and physical comedy sketches.

Highlights of his six-decade career in the entertainment world include the Bafta-winning sitcom Fawlty Towers in the mid-1970s which was hugely popular in the UK and became a cult favourite in the US; and A Fish Called Wanda (1988), perhaps his best-known film, which earned him Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Screenplay.

He was the co-author of two best-selling books that explore psychology and psychiatry and their application in the wider world — Families And How To Survive Them (1983) and Life And How To Survive It (1992).

His autobiography So, Anyway…, which was published in 2014, topped The New York Times bestsellers list

It details his rise from his humble beginnings as a writer and performer in England and his early comedic days.

Tickets cost 1,500, 2,500 and 3,500 baht and can be purchased from all Thai Ticket Major outlets (visit thaiticketmajor.com or call 02-262-2828) and via livenation.co.th.
