Grandfather Visits Phone Shop To Send Message To Daughter

A grandfather struggling with technology touched hearts after visiting a phone shop for help sending his granddaughter a birthday WhatsApp message.

John Yeoh, 74, wanted to send his young relative, Jamie, a picture of a handwritten note to mark her 21st birthday celebrations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 10.

The pensioner knew the student used the messaging app but was unsure how to work it himself – so he trudged to a phone shop to ask for help.

Her grandfather had written his greeting on a piece of paper, which was photographed by the phone shop employee and then sent to her.

Jamie was overcome with emotion when she realised the lengths he had gone to in order to make sure she received his note.

She said: ‘’He has never once forgotten me or my sister’s birthday or anyone’s birthday for that matter. He’s always thoughtful and does small sweet things.’’

Jamie said that her grandfather has always been thoughtful to everyone especially the grandkids.

“Last year for Christmas, he gave me and my sister each coffee mugs with our favourite colours. I was very touched as he actually remembers our favourite colours,’’ she added.

Jamie said that her grandfather has been a widower for 20 years now but still visits her grave. She said: ‘’Until today he goes to visit her tombstone with flowers and sings to her whenever it’s her birthday.’’

Jamie is in Kuala Lumpur away from her family to study Computer Science in university.
