Banglamung police responded to a fatal vehicle collision that occurred opposite the entrance to Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 6 in the Naklua sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene.
When authorities arrived, they found 82-year-old Mr. Chaisit Kanchanakrajang lying critically injured on the road beside his bicycle, which had a twisted rear wheel. Nearby, an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck was parked with visible damage to its front end. The driver, 39-year-old Mr. Thapanapong Natthachirawattanakun, was present and waiting to provide a statement to the authorities.
Mr. Thapanapong, who works as a security guard, explained that he was on his way to work when the accident happened. He said he initially did not see the cyclist but looked up just as the bicycle appeared in front of his vehicle. Despite trying to stop, he was unable to avoid colliding with the bicycle, which caused Mr. Chaisit to be thrown onto the road. Mr. Thapanapong immediately called for rescue services.
Unfortunately, Mr. Chaisit was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team from Banglamung Hospital. Police detained Mr. Thapanapong for further questioning and charged him with reckless driving causing death.
