To increase tourism in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) provinces, the government is considering allowing entertainment venues to stay open late.
The cabinet approved the request on Tuesday to permit entertainment establishments in the provinces of Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Rayong to be open twenty-four hours a day. The secretary of the Entertainment and Tourism Association of Pattaya City, Damrongkiat Phinitkan, stated his optimism that the strategy will help local businesses and revive the tourism industry in the area.
Damrongkiat claims that business owners in Pattaya have indicated a willingness to follow rules if the proposal is approved. He claimed that while eating establishments might stay open until the wee hours of the morning, walking streets might stay open until late at night. He further guarantees that the operation of all-night entertainment venues won’t have a detrimental influence on nearby communities if the new regulations are correctly implemented.
The secretary added that he thought Pattaya would be able to compete with other top-tier tourist destinations in Europe, South Korea, and Japan if the plan is approved. (NNT)
