Early hours of this morning, i reported that a concrete balcony had fallen down beside the Family Mart near the market in Soi Buakhao. Today i can give an update and confirm that although some bike were crushed under the rubble, no one was actually hurt or injured. Family Mart was closed from last night till around midday today (sat 12th may) but has since re-opened its doors and is trading.
Men are working today so fix and make safe the area. I do not think that there is anymore danger of the other balcony collapsing, though, we have to ask questions as to why a balcony just falls away and feel lucky that no-one was standing on the balcony or underneath at the time it all fell.
I myself walk up that lane to the car-park at the back and also drive up there on most days, i so am fortunate enough that i had parked my car about 5 minutes before it all started falling. The market seems to also be trading well today so its business as usual for pattaya.
