Thailand secures 42 spots for 2024 Paris Olympics

Thailand secures 42 spots for 2024 Paris Olympics

The government announced that the Thai national team has secured 42 spots for the 33rd Olympics in Paris, France, scheduled from July 26th to August 11th.

There are still opportunities to secure more slots in sports such as golf, athletics, judo, and swimming through qualifying rounds until early July. The current qualifications are as follows: nine athletes in badminton, eight in boxing, five in cycling, two in kiteboarding, two in sailing, three in shooting, one in modern pentathlon, three in taekwondo, one in equestrian, three in table tennis, four in weightlifting, and one in rowing.

The host nation, France, will award a total of 329 gold medals across 32 sports, with an estimated 10,500 athletes from around the world qualifying for the final rounds. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin praised the abilities of all Thai athletes and encouraged Thai sports fans to support them in the remaining qualifying rounds. He also extended his encouragement to the athletes who have already qualified and their support teams, urging them to stay motivated in their training and preparations for the competition.

He wished them success in achieving their goals and bringing honor to Thailand. The Prime Minister emphasized that, regardless of whether they win medals, all Thai athletes serve as role models and inspire the youth to strive for excellence and continue developing their skills in the future.
