Thailand Covid 19 UPDATE

NEVER GIVE UP HOPE

There were 6,335 new Covid-19 cases and 37 more fatalities registered during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Thursday morning.

There were 6,305 cases in the general population and 30 among prison inmates.

The number of new cases rose from 5,857 announced on Wednesday, when the country recorded 55 more deaths.

On Wednesday, 7,218 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 2,059,464 Covid-19 patients, 1,959,663 of whom have recovered to date.

Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 2,088,327 Covid-19 cases, with 1,987,089 complete recoveries so far.

The death toll stood at 20,487 during the third wave and 20,581 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The 37 latest fatalities were aged 31 to 95 years and included one Myanmar national

Bangkok recorded five new deaths while a further two were reported in the adjacent provinces of Pathum Thani and Samut Sakhon.

Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 12 more deaths – in Suphan Buri (3), Lop Buri (2), Phetchaburi (1), Kanchanaburi (1), Chon Buri (1), Chanthaburi (1), Trat (1), Ratchaburi (1) and Saraburi (1).

The South reported 11 more deaths – in Pattani (3), Nakhon Si Thammarat (3), Songkhla (2), Surat Thani (1), Yala (1) and Phangnga (1).

The North reported six fatalities – in Tak (2) Chiang Rai (1), Phrae (1), Phitsanulok (1) and Uthai Thani (1).

The 6,335 new cases included 6,298 local infections and seven imported cases. Of the local infections, 6,092 were confirmed at hospitals and 206 via mass testing.

Bangkok had 672 new cases, followed by 455 in Songkhla, 429 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 263 in Surat Thani, 258 in Chiang Mai, 206 in Samut Prakan, 204 in Chon Buri, 178 in Pattani, 171 in Yala and 154 in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The seven imported cases were from Russia (1), Switzerland (1), Norway (1), Ireland (1), the Netherlands (1), Myanmar (1) and Cambodia (1).

Since the country reopened to visitors on Nov 1, 98,900 people had arrived by air and 131 of them (0.13%) were confirmed with Covid-19, as of midnight.

On Wednesday 80,657 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 81,577), including 1,508 seriously ill patients (down from 1,529) and 363 dependent on ventilators (up from 358).

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 625,789 in 24 hours to 259.69 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 7,767 to 5.19 million.

The United States had the most cases at 48.96 million, up 103,899, and the most deaths at 798,242, up 1,593.
