The number of new Covid-19 cases rose by 319 on Friday to 8,467 while the death toll dropped by 11 to 69, according to data on Saturday.
On Friday, 8,288 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,931,176 Covid-19 patients, 1,815,592 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,960,039 Covid-19 cases. Of them, 1,843,018 have recovered.
The death toll stood at 19,517 during the third wave and 19,611 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Saturday afternoon reported that the 69 new fatalities, all of whom Thais, were aged 16-98. By gender, 36 of them were men.
Bangkok recorded 20 more deaths, up six from the previous day, while another four were reported in the adjacent provinces of Nakhon Pathom (2), Nonthaburi (1) and Samut Sakhon (1).
The South saw 12 new deaths in Yala (3), Surat Thani (2), Narathiwat (2), Chumphon (1), Phangnga (1) and Songkhla (1).ad
The Northeast had 10 new fatalities in Chaiyaphum (2), Mukdahan (2), Udon Thani (2), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Surin (1), Khon Kaen (1) and Ubon Ratchathani (1).
The North saw seven deaths in Chiang Mai (4) and Chiang Rai (3).
Eleven other provinces reported 16 new deaths. They were Rayong (4), Chon Buri (3), Saraburi (2), Phetchaburi (1), Suphan Buri (1), Lop Buri (1), Ratchaburi (1), Chanthaburi (1), Nakhon Nayok (1) and Ayutthaya (1).
Bangkok continued to lead the daily infections at 809, up 88 from the previous day, followed by 487 in Chiang Mai (+84), 462 in Songkhla (-36), 449 in Nakhon Si Thammarat (+155), 437 in Pattani (+10), 321 in Yala (-54), 294 in Chon Buri (-54), 218 in Narathiwat (+5) and 197 in Samut Prakan (-47),
There were 13 imported cases from nine countries — one each from Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Malaysia and Myanmar, two from France and five from Cambodia.
On Friday, 97,410 people remained at hospitals, including 2,054 who were critically ill and 447 on ventilators.
As of Friday, 79.51 million vaccine shots have been administered across the country — 43.69 million as the first dose, accounting for 60.7% of the population, 33.26 million as the second dose (46.2%) and 2.55 million as the third shot (3.6%).
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 505,201 in 24 hours to 249.84 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 7,688 to 5.05 million.
The United States had the most cases at 47.28 million, up 84,846. Thailand ranked 24th globally with 1.96 million cases.
