There were 13,798 new Covid-19 cases and 144 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Wednesday morning.
There were 13,347 cases in the general population and 451 in prisons.
On Tuesday, 14,133 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,391,477 Covid-19 patients, 1,249,603 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,420,340 Covid-19 cases, with 1,277,029 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 14,671 during the third wave and 14,765 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The kingdom’s 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312, recorded on Aug 18. The largest number of daily cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.
Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said in the afternoon briefing that the latest 144 fatalities (up from 136 the previous day) were aged 22 to 96 years and included three Myanmar, two Cambodian and one UK nationals.
One death was a pregnant woman in Narathiwat and two others were bed-ridden patients at their homes in Bangkok and Satun.
Bangkok continued to log the most new deaths, 43 (up from 28 the previous day) while a further 41 (up from 29) were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (20), Pathum Thani (7), Samut Sakhon (5), Nonthaburi (5) and Nakhon Pathom (4).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 33 more deaths (down from 37) – in Chon Buri (8), Saraburi (4), Samut Songkhram (3), Nakhon Nayok (3), Lop Buri (3), Chachoengsao (3), Ayutthaya (2), Prachuap Khiri Khan (2), Singburi (1), Rayong (1), Prachin Buri (1), Chanthaburi (1) and Trat (1).
The Northeast had 12 new fatalities (up from 10) – in Nakhon Ratchasima (3), Khon Kaen (2), Ubon Ratchathani (2), Udon Thani (1), Yasothon (1), Bung Kan (1), Chaiyaphum (1) and Kalasin (1).
The South reported 7 more deaths (down from 12) – in Narathiwat (3), Surat Thani (1), Yala (1), Satun (1) and Ranong (1).
The North saw 8 new fatalities (down from 20) – in Tak (4), Uttaradit (3) and Kamphaeng Phet (1).
The 13,798 new cases (up from 11,786) included 13,325 local infections and 22 imported cases.
Of the local infections, 12,117 were confirmed at hospitals and 1,208 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 2,772 new cases (down from 2,788), followed by 1,351 in Samut Prakan (up from 811), 835 in Chon Buri (down from 955), 680 in Rayong (up from 217), 487 in Ratchaburi (up from 314), 404 in Samut Sakhon (down from 542), 359 in Nonthaburi (down from 482), 354 in Narathiwat (up from 262), 345 in Prachin Buri (up from 296) and 327 in Songkhla (up from 272).
Greater Bangkok reported 5,195 new cases (up from 4,860) and 84 new deaths (up from 57). Four southern border provinces had 1,191 new cases (up from 777) and 4 new fatalities (down from 6), while 67 other provinces recorded 6,939 new cases (up from 5,873) and 55 new deaths (down from 73).
The 22 imported cases were from Malaysia (5), Myanmar (12) and Cambodia (5).
On Tuesday 128,546 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 129,025), including 3,994 seriously ill patients (down from 4,080) and 806 dependent on ventilators (down from 818).
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 511,801 in 24 hours (up from 440,800) to 226.66 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 8,881 (from 6,807) to 4.66 million.
The United States had the most cases at 42.29 million, up 142,059 (from 109,432) and the most deaths at 682,341, up 1,934 (from 815).
