Security Guard Faces Charges After Altercation with British Tourist in Pattaya
Police are reviewing CCTV footage of a violent altercation between a security guard and a British tourist at an entertainment venue on Walking Street, South Pattaya, on the night of March 2 .
The footage shows that at approximately 11:30 pm , Sarawut, 33 , a security guard, punched Mr. C (pseudonym), 63 , a British tourist, following a heated exchange. The incident occurred in an alley opposite the XO Club , where Mr. C allegedly attempted to re-enter the venue despite being denied entry due to intoxication.
Sarawut claims that Mr. C became aggressive after being refused entry, leading to an argument. The British tourist allegedly kicked Sarawut in the groin , prompting the guard to retaliate . CCTV shows Mr. C falling backward after being punched, hitting his head on the ground and sustaining an injury.
Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation provided first aid before transporting Mr. C to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for treatment. Meanwhile, Sarawut was taken into custody by Pattaya police for questioning.
On March 3 , Sarawut was officially charged with assault causing bodily harm , which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison , a fine of up to 40,000 baht , or both .
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, including reviewing additional CCTV footage and witness testimonies .
