A Thai woman made a daring escape after being held hostage and sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend for four days in his Bangkok condo. The 31-year-old victim, Am, continues to receive chilling death threats and has sought assistance from a high-ranking Thai government official.
Am turned to Thanakrit Jitaree, an advisor to the Public Health Minister, after her ex-boyfriend not only detained her but also threatened to kill her. She shared that since the ordeal, her life has been a constant nightmare, leaving her too afraid to even visit her family, fearing he might find her. Am explained that her family lived next door to her ex-boyfriend’s home, which led to frequent interactions that eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship. While things were initially smooth, the relationship took a dark turn as frequent arguments escalated into physical violence.
Am later discovered her ex-boyfriend’s drug use, which she believes contributed to his abusive behavior, prompting her to end their two-year relationship. After their breakup, Am went abroad for work and returned to Thailand on September 16. Upon her return, her ex-boyfriend tricked her into meeting by claiming he wanted to settle their past issues. Trusting his intentions, Am agreed to meet him at his Bangkok apartment, only to be trapped once again. He seized her mobile phone and passport before locking her inside.
For the next four days, Am endured horrifying abuse. Her ex-boyfriend raped her, cut her hair, and repeatedly threatened to kill her, even suggesting her only escape was by jumping off the building. Shockingly, his mother was aware of the situation but did not intervene, merely bringing food and drink to Am each day.
Am ultimately managed to escape with the help of other residents in the building. She seized the opportunity to scream for help while her ex-boyfriend was away, and neighbors came to her rescue.
Despite escaping, Am lives in constant fear as her ex-boyfriend continues to send her terrifying death threats, including threats to mutilate her and attack her with acid. Although she had planned to reunite with her family after returning from abroad, she has been too afraid to go home since the incident.
Thanakrit has assured Am of her safety and personally accompanied her back to her family home. He is actively following up on the case with Pathum Wan Police Station, where officers are preparing to summon the suspect for questioning. However, the man remains at large. Channel 7
