A jealous man fatally stabbed his wife at their shared home in the eastern province of Rayong yesterday, reportedly driven by suspicions that she was having an affair with a man she met online, fueled by her obsession with the TikTok app.
An assistant to the Samnakthong sub-district chief, along with local residents, managed to restrain 49-year-old Narate, the man responsible for the crime, and called officers from the Samnakthong Police Station to arrest him. The incident took place around 11 a.m. on November 11 at the couple’s home, where Narate’s 48-year-old wife, Sang, was fatally attacked.
When police and a rescue team arrived at the scene, they found the woman in critical condition and immediately began performing CPR. She had suffered over 16 stab wounds to her body and face. Despite their efforts, the woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The knife used in the attack was found at her feet. It was the same knife the couple typically used for chopping vegetables, as they worked as vegetable vendors.
Sang’s older brother told police that Narate had always been a jealous man, and that the couple frequently argued over his suspicions. He explained that Narate became particularly upset by Sang’s constant use of her phone, especially her time spent on the TikTok app. The brother believed Narate thought his sister was secretly communicating with another man online.
The couple had also begun working separately in their vegetable vending business, no longer spending as much time together, which may have further strained their relationship.
According to Channel 7, the suspect has not yet spoken publicly about his motives for the murder. Narate was taken to the police station for questioning, but authorities have not released any additional details about the investigation at this time.
