Taxi driver gets fined for making a move on ladyboy passenger
A cabbie, who decided to continue driving taxis after having his license revoked in 2015, was summoned and fined after a video of him asking a trans passenger for sex went viral this week.
The cabbie, identified as Thanet Torasap, was fined a total of THB3,000 (US$95) yesterday for driving without a license and verbally harassing a trans woman, saying he’d pay for a five-star hotel room to have a good time with her.
“I’ll get a room at Shangri La…or Sofitel, it’s close by,” he said in the video posted Monday.
We think Department of Land Transport should fine him extra for using this pickup line, “I’m not an angel, but I’ll show you heaven,” to which the passenger responded with, “No, thanks.”
He continued to ask if she has had a sex change operation and then got excited when she said no, “You’re pre-op? I’ll handle it. I love it.”
The passenger, who was not named, told Channel 7 News that she got in the cab near a university in the Din Daeng area to go to work.
She said the taxi driver even made a bold move by offering her THB1,000 (US$30) for sex.
“He asked me how much I earn a day, and he handed me ten THB100 bills.”
The woman said she’d feel sorry for the cabbie if he lost his job, but she decided to release the footage so that he doesn’t repeat his behavior with anyone else.
