Steven Knight Says There Could Be A Peaky Blinders Film Or Spin-Off

Steven Knight Says There Could Be A Peaky Blinders Film Or Spin-Off

Steven Knight Says There Could Be A Peaky Blinders Film Or Spin-Off:

With the fifth season of Peaky Blinders coming to a close, fans of the show will be pleased to hear the show’s creator has no intention of drawing a line under the Shelbys any time soon.

Steven Knight has previously indicated that he knows what the final scene of the show will be already – which will come at the end of the seventh series as World War Two begins.

However, when asked whether he would consider doing a Peaky Blinders film, Knight indicated that he was up for it.

Speaking to LADbible at the first Peaky Blinders Festival in Birmingham, he said: “I would (consider doing a film). The end scene is the end of this as a television series the way it is now, but it’s certainly not ruling out spin offs or a movie.

“You know there’s a Peaky Blinders ballet that is being performed today and it’s brilliant, it’s mind-blowing. So I think there’s something about Peaky where it’s a world, lots of people have different interpretations of that world, so I’m all for keeping the spirit going.”

Knight also said he had written the first four episodes of season six and heaped praise on the show’s star, Cillian Murphy, claiming the actor would make a ‘fantastic Bond’.

“We’re so fortunate that he’s played the role and you completely cannot conceive of anybody else playing Tommy Shelby,” Knight said.

“He’d be a great virtually anything, ’cause he’s so flexible, he’s such a chameleon. He would be a fantastic Bond. Whether or not he’s interested I have no idea.”

Knight recently collaborated with Liam Gallagher on the video for his new single, ‘One Of Us’ – and the former Oasis frontman agreeing to play the Peaky Blinders Festival in return.

Gallagher has previously hinted at a role in the show on Twitter and Knight said he thinks the rock n’ roll star would be ‘fantastic’ as a Peaky Blinder – though he does have some reservations.

He said: “I’m sure he’d be fantastic and he looks great in the gear, the only thing I get concerned with – this is not ruling it out – but I always get concerned when someone is known for something else, it sort of destroys the moment and it’s very distracting, no matter how good they are. So I think it has to be done with great care.

“I’ve not really considered it, but never say never.”

Sure, there’s not really any precedent for sticking LG in a BBC period drama, and sure, it wouldn’t really make any sense, but I think I speak for all of us when I say I would definitely tune in to see a Peaky Gallagher.
