Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat of the pre-season, losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich in front of a sell-out crowd of 67,000 at Seoul.
Key players such as Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and summer signings Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall featured for Spurs, who struggled against the Bundesliga giants despite Harry Kane’s absence.
Bayern took an early lead when Gabriel Vidovic capitalized on a poor pass from Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Leon Goretzka extended Bayern’s advantage after the break. Though Pedro Porro pulled one back for Tottenham with a striking effort from 25 yards, they couldn’t find an equalizer against a dominant Bayern side, which also featured former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in the second half.
Ange Postecoglou’s team will have another chance to face Bayern on Saturday, August 10, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with kickoff set for 17:30 BST.
In other action, Newcastle United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Yokohama F. Marinos in their final match of the Japan tour. Brazilian winger Elber and midfielder Jun Amano scored for the J-League club in Tokyo, where Lloyd Kelly made his first appearance in Newcastle colors.

Several Premier League clubs are currently on overseas tours preparing for the upcoming season. Aston Villa will take on Mexico’s Club America in Chicago on Saturday at 22:30 BST, while Chelsea will face Manchester City simultaneously at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Back in England, Everton saw new signings Jake O’Brien and Jesper Lindstrom score on their debuts, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin adding a third goal in a 3-0 win at Preston. Brighton secured a 1-0 victory at Queens Park Rangers, Southampton edged out Millwall 1-0, and Brentford drew 1-1 with Watford.
