A drug courier was apprehended following the discovery of approximately 500,000 speed pills concealed beneath his vehicle in Chai Prakan district of Chiang Mai on Tuesday.
Soldiers from the Pha Muang task force and local law enforcement intercepted a Toyota Avanza bearing Nakhon Pathom license plates at the Pha Hong checkpoint on Highway 107 in Chai Prakan on Tuesday morning. The vehicle was en route from the Thailand-Myanmar border area.
While no illicit substances were initially found inside the vehicle, the driver’s behavior raised suspicion among the officers, prompting them to conduct a more thorough inspection.
Upon closer examination, officers observed wire mesh affixed beneath the vehicle. Upon removing the wire, they discovered plastic bags containing an estimated 500,000 speed pills, as reported by the Pha Muang task force.
The driver, identified as Santiparb, aged 58 and hailing from Khon Kaen, was apprehended and transferred to Chai Prakan police for further legal proceedings. His surname was not disclosed.
