Khao San Road, Snakeskin shoes shop in trouble
Bags and shoes made of snake leather, collectively worth Bt1 million, were seized from a shop in Bangkok’s Khao San Road on Thursday.
The National Parks Department’s Wild Hawk task force in charge of suppressing the online trade in protected wildlife identified the leather products at the shop as using protected species of reticulated python, Indian python and oriental rat snake. The shop owner had a licence to sell wildlife products, but it had expired, so 346 items were confiscated as evidence for Bang Khen police to build a case for prosecution. Asia Nation
