Ranger killed in Yala double insurgency attacks

A villager was shot dead and a ranger later killed in a bombing ambush when his unit was dispatched to the shooting scene in Yala’s Yaha district on Wednesday morning.

Two Buddhists were shot inside a rubber plantation village in Tambon Baroh, with one killed and the other severely injured.

Police and rangers from the 4703rd Ranger company investigated after the Yaha police station was alerted at 7.30am of the shooting incident.

While the ranger unit was checking the scene, an unknown number of insurgents detonated a bomb at 8.30am.

The blast killed ranger Noppadol Chukul. Three other rangers were slightly injured and rushed to Kabang District Hospital.
