The U-Tapao International Aviation Company (UTA), a private venture partner of the Thai government, intends to invest up to 40 billion baht in the project to expand the U-Tapao international airport.
To accelerate the airport expansion, UTA is raising its registered capital from 4.5 billion Thai Baht to 15 billion Thai Baht.
UTA would devote a sizeable total investment of 40 billion baht toward the airport expansion once the capital increase is completed. The state will receive complete ownership and rights to the aviation facilities after the development project is finished.
The UTA U-Tapao investment plan has been changed from the initial four phases to six phases, with the following projected passenger capacity:
Phase 1: By 2027, the initial target of 15.9 million annual passengers will drop to 12 million.
Phase 2: By 2030, there will be a 15.9 million passenger capacity increase.
Phase 3: By 2034, the initial target for this phase was 22.4 million passengers annually, down from the initial estimate of 30 million.
Phase 4: An increase in passenger capacity of 30 million annually by 2034.
Phase 5: Initially anticipated to accommodate 45 million passengers annually, roughly maintaining that number by 2047.
Phase 6: Upholding the 2060 target of 60 million travelers annually.
