Police in Pattaya begin a city-wide search for overstaying foreigners

Yesterday, Pattaya Police and Immigration conducted a city-wide search in search of foreign nationals who may have overstayed their visas or been involved in unlawful activity.

About 10:30 PM on April 5th, 50 law enforcement agents combed through Pattaya City to stop criminal activity.

According to the cops, they mostly focused on overstayers, illegal migrant laborers, and foreign nationals working in Pattaya illegally. To check for overstayers, the police and immigration officers, divided into three groups, went to nightclubs and other locations near popular tourist destinations including Walking Street and Soi 6.

They also looked over the staff members to see if they had any weapons or illegal substances on them. The Pattaya Police claim that the examination was successful in preventing crime because nothing illicit was discovered.

Officers added that in order to uphold this standard, they will regularly carry out this ad hoc operation.
