Entertainment venues in Phuket will remain closed for 14 days to curb the spread of Covid-19, Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana said.
The Phuket Communicable Disease Committee on Tuesday resolved to issue an order for temporary closure starting from Wednesday (March 18).
The move follows a Cabinet resolution on Tuesday ordering temporary closure of entertainment venues in Bangkok and Greater Bangkok for 14 days.
Entertainment venues include Thai traditional massage parlours and movie theatres.
The committee will circulate this resolution to entertainment venue operators across the island. He added that they could appeal to the committee for a review but will have to come up with valid reasons to request a revision of the order.
He said that Phuket has continued measures to screen tourists arriving at the airport and sea ports.
