Pattaya City orders demolition for unpermitted buildings along the Canal

On May 23, Manot Nongyai, the deputy mayor of Pattaya City, went to the public canal in South Pattaya to talk about wastewater management and to remove unpermitted buildings.

In response to worries expressed by Methakit Sunthorn, a member of the Pattaya City Council, that some business owners had constructed additional roofing and improper waste disposal pipes, resulting in the discharge of food waste and wastewater into the canal, Manot conducted an on-site inspection accompanied by representatives from city hall.

Manot acted swiftly during the inspection, giving the necessary departments the go-ahead to clear the canal through excavation and designate limits to denote infringed areas. To ensure compliance and get ready for the ultimate demolition of unapproved structures along the canal in the near future, strict monitoring will be put in place.
