Heavy rain and strong winds have wreaked havoc on the coastal areas of Pattaya and Na Kluea today, resulting in substantial damage to property and infrastructure.
The Meteorological Department of Thailand had forecast heavy rain for 80% of the region, particularly targeting the Eastern region and Bangkok. Additionally, the Southern Andaman coast and the Gulf of Thailand were expected to face waves up to 2 meters high.
In Soi Na Kluea 27, a massive pine tree—over 20 meters tall and approximately 40 years old—was uprooted by the intense weather. The saturated soil could no longer support the tree, which fell onto a residential home, causing severe damage to the roof and property. Officials promptly worked to remove the fallen tree and restore the area.
In Soi Na Kluea 16, the strong winds tore the roof off a commercial building measuring more than ten meters in both width and length. Fortunately, the roof landed on high-voltage power lines without causing any injuries. Local authorities used a crane to safely clear the debris, preventing additional hazards for the public and tourists.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to stay alert as the storm continues to impact the region. Emergency services are on standby to manage any further incidents. As of 11:30 PM Bangkok time on July 29, the area has mostly experienced only light rain.
