Residents of the provinces of Lampang, Phayao, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai reported experiencing a 4.9 magnitude earthquake and its multiple aftershocks, which resulted in damage to 14 homes.
The epicenter of the quakes was in between Wang Kaeoand Tung Hua sub-districts in Wang Nua district of Lampang and was located 21 kilometers below the surface. A total of 18 tremors were felt across the northern region.
The quakes began at about midday on Wednesday and resulted in damage to some homes. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported 10 homes in Tung Hua were damaged along with one pagoda. Wang Thong saw two homes damaged with two more in Wang Sai and Wang Nua.
