At its first meeting this year, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) yesterday (Jan 7, 2019) discussed measures to reduce the number of beggars in Thailand, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
The meeting set a three-year campaign (2019-2021) to provide job-training for beggars.
In 2018, job-trainers in Nonthaburi and Trang provinces have provided job training for beggars, who can now make a living by themselves.
Under the law, beggars are liable to one month in jail and a fine of no more than 10,000, or both
