A motorbike taxi driver has sustained serious injuries after a motorbike crashed in Pattaya early yesterday morning.

Rescue workers were notified of the accident at 3:30 AM in a Soi near the Land Office in Nongprue.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News rushed to the scene to find 32-year-old Mr Narongsak Tatprakong, who is a motorbike taxi driver and had sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.

Nearby they found another damaged motorbike whose driver 21-year-old Tanawut Nantawat had only minor injuries and was waiting for police at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet.

Witnesses told The Pattaya News that they were driving in opposite lanes and Mr. Tanawut was attempting to cross the road.

As Mr. Tanawut attempted to cross the road Mr. Tatprakong, who was allegedly driving at high speed, crashed into him. Mr. Tanawut tested negative for alcohol and declined to go to a local hospital.

However, police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV footage nearby.
