Heavy Rains Lead to Beach Erosion

On Pattaya Beach, the runoff from heavy rain early this morning resulted in worrying erosion.
The downpour that occurred 20 minutes after midnight on October 10th ran out into the sea, severely eroding Pattaya Beach and leaving behind numerous long, deep scours.
Since the runoff from the rainstorm poured down to the beach and carried sand into the Pattaya sea, the torrential rain that lashed Pattaya City for more than two hours this morning significantly eroded the area.
Many ditches, some as deep as one meter and four meters wide, were found on the reinforced beach during the city officials’ inspection this morning. In addition, there was an unhealthy amount of trash that precipitation had brought with it.
In addition to eroding, the runoff also harmed a section of Pattaya Beach Road in front of Soi 6. According to city officials, the water caused numerous minor craters by washing away portions of the recently installed asphalt. However, since the road had already been fixed, authorities moved quickly to address the situation.
Officials in Pattaya have promised to use construction equipment to fill in the beach holes in order to address the erosion issue soon.
