The altercation occurred around 2:30 AM on November 20th, right outside the Pattaya Police Station.
Mr. Saw Hla Htav Han, a 31-year-old Myanmar national, stated that he had hired a motorcycle taxi to take him and a woman from a South Pattaya nightlife venue to their accommodation. As they passed the police station, he requested the driver to turn into Soi 9. However, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Mr. Chaisan, reportedly responded rudely and insulted him.
Mr. Saw and the woman then asked to be dropped off in front of the police station, which is said to have angered Mr. Chaisan. The situation quickly escalated into a heated argument, which soon turned into a fistfight right in front of the police station. The altercation unfolded in full view of several Thai and foreign tourists who were walking by at the time.
During the fight, Mr. Saw claimed that Mr. Chaisan pulled out a small knife from his bag as he was losing the altercation and stabbed him once under the chest, causing a minor injury. Mr. Saw then retreated toward the nearby police apartments, with Mr. Chaisan following him. Tourists nearby alerted the police officers inside the station to stop the fight
