Mother’s Day weekend couls be Sluggish

Tourism-related business in Thailand is not expected to be as active as it was during the same period last year, due to high fuel, goods, and service prices, which are the main obstacles to traveling and spending, according to Yuthasak Supasorn, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

He predicted that the number of tourists who undertake one-day trips without staying overnight will be the same as those who spend a night or two away, earning tourism revenue of around 8.7 billion baht, a 5% decrease from last year.

He stated that the Korean TV show “King the Land” has positively influenced visits to Bangkok, with an estimated 600,000 visitors expected during the three-day weekend, an increase of 10.82% over the same period last year.

Northern provinces are expected to receive approximately 290,000 visitors, producing approximately 1.1 billion baht in tourism revenue. The eastern region, on the other hand, is predicted to suffer a 22.74% reduction in tourist visitation, or only roughly 360,000 people. The number of tourists to the southern region is likely to drop by roughly 10%, to around 266,000, producing an estimated 1.3 billion baht in income.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Council of Thailand released its Mother’s Day tourism study, which revealed:

23% of those polled stated they have no plans to travel.

23% stated they intend to travel within their provinces.

21% want to travel to neighboring provinces and stay overnight.

20% intend to visit neighboring provinces but will not stay overnight.

13% intend to visit throughout the region.

The council also pointed out that many Thais had already traveled during the 6-day holiday in late July and early August, and that we are currently in the midst of the rainy season.

Meanwhile, Hua Hin, Cha-am, Bangkok, Khao Yai, and Kanchanaburi are the next most popular tourist destinations among Thai visitors, according to the Agoda digital tourism platform.
