On Friday in a private transportation center in Hat Yai, Songkhla, illegal cigarettes and illicit liquor valued at over 6 million baht were seized by representatives of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) and other relevant officials.
An unknown source provided the CPPD officials with information on illicit alcohol and cigarette smuggling to consumers via private vehicles via internet platforms.
Following the seizure, 7,340 illicit cigarette packs and 87 illicit wine and alcohol bottles worth an estimated 7.2 million baht were discovered.
At first, the investigation officers took the evidence away in order to preserve it for future use in court and promised to prosecute those responsible for their crimes.
