Mark Ruffalo Wants To Do A Solo Hulk Movie
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a huge deal in film across the past 12 years. Split into four phases, we’ve seen four Avengers films and 10 origin stories ranging from Thor to Spider-Man, Iron Man to Black Panther, Captain Marvel to Doctor Strange.
Well, it looks as though the man who played The Incredible Hulk is interested in furthering his time in the spotlight.
Mark Ruffalo joined the MCU for 2012’s Avengers Assemble, replacing Edward Norton as the green giant, and he’s keen on making a new standalone Hulk film.
Speaking to Variety, the Hollywood star explained that nothing has been officially proposed from Marvel or Disney, however he would definitely be up for it.
“There’s an idea that I think could be really interesting,” Ruffalo told the entertainment publication. “We’ve never really followed him into his life.
“He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”
Since then end of Endgame, we have been promised more stories from Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, so a new Hulk film isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility.
Ruffalo says there has been some talk about his character making a cameo in the Disney+ She Hulk series, however nothing has been finalised yet.
He added: “If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.”
If this gets the thumbs up from Marvel and Disney, the standalone Hulk film would be the character’s third solo appearance on the big screen since Marvel movies upped their game around the turn of the century. Edward Norton portrayed the character in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, while Eric Bana did the honours in 2003 with the critically divisive Hulk.
When asked what this solo film could be about, Ruffalo teased it could feature an epic showdown with one of the biggest superheroes around.
“Maybe Hulk and Wolverine could hook up,” he said.
Wolverine’s first ever appearance was in the last panel of The Incredible Hulk #180 comic, when the two heroes battled it out in the forests of Canada.
Another big question would be whether Hugh Jackman would be up for this film – would we see a new actor playing Wolverine?
