Police on Monday brought a 37-year-old man, who had allegedly murdered a 40-year-old woman in a revenge attack on the night of April 27 in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district, to appear before a court for an initial 12-day detention order.
Suspect Abhisek Thepsurin has reportedly confessed to killing Saowalak Chansiam for breaking his younger sister’s heart, which drove her to attempt to commit suicide, and to wounding Saowalak’s new girlfriend.
Abhisek, who appeared calm and emotionless, briefly told the court that he was sorry, as police presented him to apply for a detention order and object to his release on bail.
A police source said that Abhisek, who was arrested shortly after the murder, had confessed to killing Saowalak and seriously wounding her new girlfriend, Charisa Jaimipak, 38, at their home in Hat Yai’s Tambon Kuan Lang in order to avenge his younger sister, whom Saowalak had reportedly left for Charisa.
He claimed his sister was so sad over the break-up that she had tried to commit suicide, but was saved in time.
Police charged Abhisek with murder, attempted murder and carrying a knife to a public place without sound reason for doing so.
Meanwhile, Saowalak’s body on Monday was brought by relatives to her hometown of Phatthalung for her funeral
