A man allegedly tried to set fire to his neighbor’s house in vengeance for the neighbor filing a noise complaint against him and accidentally injured himself.
On Friday, August 4th, Sattahip emergency services received word that a Thai man had been burned while attempting to light a fire on the top of a house in Chonburi’s Bang Saray sub-district. Following the report, they hurried to the scene of the incident.
When the rescue team arrived, they located Mr. Net Anantakul, 47, with serious burns on his face, arms, and legs. Despite being aware and able to converse, he seemed to be intoxicated, according to the rescue team.
While being sent to a nearby hospital, the injured guy claimed that he had a disagreement with his neighbor about them reporting him to the local municipality for making loud sounds and emitting foul aromas while repairing his boat.
Net, fueled by rage, decided to climb onto the top of a neighbor’s house in the middle of the night with a gasoline-filled bottle.
Then he poured the fuel onto the house’s second-floor balcony and lit it. However, while attempting to start the fire, the gasoline unintentionally sprayed on him and caught fire, burning him and causing significant injuries.
Net sought refuge inside his own home, unable to bear the discomfort and blisters, and eventually requested that rescue personnel transfer him for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s neighbor, Ms. Siriporn Homsaen, 33, said that her foreign husband was sleeping alone in their home during the event while she was out.
When her husband noticed the fire, he immediately called the fire department, who responded quickly and extinguished the flames.
Siriporn suspected the attack was motivated by her denouncing the neighbor’s boat maintenance work as producing excessive noise to the local municipality.
As a result, the local authorities ordered that the repair be halted, which may have enraged the suspect.
Siriporn reported the suspect to Sattahip police for arson.
The police are looking into it.
