Magic doll no use to woman charged with drug peddling

A woman counting on the magic of a “luk thep” doll to shield her from arrest was disappointed on Wednesday evening when she and her 16-year-old companion were nabbed while allegedly delivering meth to a buyer in Samut Songkhram.

Police say Netnapit Suksomboon, 31, was in possession of 14 methamphetamine pills and “Chor Malee”, a lifelike baby doll of the kind that became popular in Thailand several years ago in the belief they brought their owners good luck.

Netnapit was arrested in Tambon Kwai Om, Ampawa district, with a teenage girl, whose name was withheld due to her age.

Residents had complained to police about drug users and dealers frequenting the area around a temple dam.

Four men were also subsequently arrested – Rung Srichan, 44, Rakchai Cheychom, 45, Theerawit Serisomneuk, 24, and Siwanan Rodprasert, 29.

Siwanan was allegedly in possession of 100 meth pills, 4.65 grams of crystal meth and a pistol.
