Macaulay Culkin Says Michael Jackson ‘Never Did Anything’ To Him
Macaulay Culkin has reiterated his assertion that he never saw or experienced anything untoward throughout his friendship with deceased musician Michael Jackson.
Culkin spoke out about his relationship with the King of Pop, and subsequent rumours that he could have sexually abused him.
The Home Alone actor asserted strongly that this is not the case.
Speaking in a new interview with Esquire, Culkin said: “Look, I’m gonna begin with the line-it’s not a line, it’s the truth: He never did anything to me.
“I never saw him do anything. And especially at this flashpoint in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back. The guy has passed on.”
He continued: “If anything-I’m not gonna say it would be stylish or anything like that, but right now is a good time to speak up.
“And, if I had something to speak up about, I would totally do it. But no, I never saw anything; he never did anything.”
Michael Jackson was eventually forced to prove his innocence in a court of law and was found not guilty of all charges.
However, years later the speculation still remains, particularly after claims in Leaving Neverland, a HBO documentary featuring several people who say they were abused by the singer.
Culkin went on to tell the interviewer about an experience he’d had when meeting fellow Hollywood star James Franco on a plane.
The 39-year-old explained: “I give him [Franco] a little nod as we’re putting our bags overhead. ‘Hey, how you doing?’ ‘Good, how ya doing?’ And it was right after the Leaving Neverland documentary came out, and he goes, ‘So, that documentary!’
“And that was all he said. I was like, ‘Uh-huh’. Silence.
“So then he goes, ‘So what do you think?’ And I turned to him and I go, ‘Do you wanna talk about your dead friend?’ And he sheepishly went, ‘No, I don’t’.
“So I said, ‘Cool, man, it was nice to see you’.”
Jackson and Culkin became friends during the 1990s when the young actor shot to fame through his appearances in films such as Richie Rich, and Getting Even With Dad.
Culkin also starred in the music video for Jackson’s hit ‘ Black or White’.
They became fast friends, but last saw each other during Jackson’s 2005 trial for molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo.
He was found to be not guilty.
Jackson died of a cardiac arrest in 2009 at the age of 50.
